Stewart-Haas Racing Gets 'Army Strong' at Fort Benning

Stewart-Haas Racing is the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team co-owned by two-time Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart and Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation -- the largest CNC machine tool builder in the western world. The team fields two entries in the elite Sprint Cup Series -- the No. 14 Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet Impala for Stewart and the No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet Impala for 2008 Daytona 500 winner Ryan Newman.

The team's pit crews traveled to Fort Benning and participated in the training regimen of U.S. Army Soldiers and, in turn, U.S. Army soldiers performed a mock pit stop on the No. 39 U.S. Army Chevrolet. The event showcased the synergies between the U.S. Army's training methods and the training Stewart-Haas Racing pit crew members undergo to prepare themselves for 38 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekends.

Members of the 197th Infantry Training Brigade took part in the pit stop while the 75th Ranger Regiment -- the U.S. Army's premier raid force -- tested their strength, agility and quickness against the pit crews of Stewart-Haas Racing at Fort Benning's Maneuver Center of Excellence.
