Kurt Busch Scores Another Atlanta Cup Win

Hampton, GA, United States (AHN) - Kurt Busch had to be as patient as he was good, pulling away in a final green-white-checker finish to win Sunday's Kobalt Tools 500 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Busch had the dominant car on the day but a pair of late-race incidents -- involving Brad Keselowski and Carl Edwards and Jamie McMurray later on -- forced the race into overtime, where Busch drove around Clint Bowyer and away from the rest of the field for the win.

"I'm just so happy to bring this car home to Victory Lane,'' said Busch, who led 129 laps. "I'm just really happy to bring it on home.''

Matt Kenseth used an impressive move to the inside on the race's final restart and came away with a second-place finish.

He was followed across the finish line by Juan Montoya, Kasey Kahne and AJ Allmendinger.

Montoya was reeling in Busch during regulation and it looked to be a close finish between the two before Edwards intentionally turned Keselowski, who had gotten into Edwards earlier in the race.

"We were a lot better on the long runs and the short runs (Busch) was good,'' said Montoya. "We've been there every week so it's nice to get this.''

Keselowski's No. 12 Dodge was turned upside down and went for a scary-looking ride, but Keselwoski was uninjured.

Keselowski called the move, 'not cool,'' after the race and Edwards admitted the retaliation before entering the NASCAR trailer for consultation.

In a later incident, McMurray, driving on two tires, kicked sideways and triggered a multi-car incident, setting up the race's final restart.
