2009 Sprint Cup Series Championship Points

Daytona Beach, FL (AHN) - Jimmie Johnson carried a 108-point cushion in the points standings into the season finale last weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway, and he managed to extend that margin via his top-10 finish in the Ford 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race.

On the way to his unprecedented fourth NASCAR Sprint Cup Series title, Johnson finished with a 141-point margin over five-time title runner-up Mark Martin.

Johnson, who had four Chase wins, finished with 6,652 points and wass trailed by Martin (6,511), Jeff Gordon (6,473), Kurt Busch (6,446), Denny Hamlin (6,335), Tony Stewart (6,309), Greg Biffle (6,292), Juan Pablo Montoya (6,252), Ryan Newman (6,175) and Kasey Kahne (6,128).

Chasers Carl Edwards (6,118) and Brian Vickers (5,929) finished 11th and 12th positions and are followed by Kyle Busch (4,457), Matt Kenseth (4,389), Clint Bowyer (4,359), David Reutimann (4,221), Jeff Burton (4,022), Marcos Ambrose (3,830), Kevin Harvick (3,796) and Joey Logano (3,791).

In positions 21st through 29th are: Casey Mears (3,759), Jamie McMurray (3,604), Martin Truex Jr. (3,503), AJ Allmendinger (3,476), Dale Earnhardt Jr. (3,422), Elliott Sadler (3,350), David Ragan (3,252), Sam Hornish Jr. (3,203) and Reed Sorenson (3,147).

In positions 30th through 39th are: Bobby Labonte (3,128), Paul Menard (2,979), David Stremme (2,919), Michael Waltrip (2,839), Robby Gordon (2,699), Scott Speed (2,690), John Andretti (2,597), David Gilliland (1,928), Brad Keselowski (1,528) and Regan Smith (1,440).

Rounding out the top-43 in positions 40th thru 43 are: Joe Nemechek (1,342), Dave Blaney (1,204) Bill Elliott (1,095) and Max Papis (1,047).
