Kyle Busch Wins Nationwide Charlotte Race

Charlotte, NC, United States (AHN) - Kyle Busch had an eventful day but that didn't keep him from winning for the fourth time in his last five races Saturday at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Busch was penalized for speeding on pit road on Lap 47 and came from two laps down to win his fifth Nationwide victory of the season and 35th of his career.

"We don't like to make them too easy I guess. What a race car this was - this Joe Gibbs Racing Camry was awesome. It was really an awesome time. We had a great race car. In the beginning there we were really, really tight, then we made some changes and got really loose. I was just trying to fight it and find out what I needed,'' said Busch.

"Jason (Ratcliff, crew chief) made some great calls there at the end in making that car handle right and of course, staying out, not coming down pit road. I also want to thank all the fans too - it's cool."

It took a final green-white-checkered finish for him to come away .112 seconds ahead of points leader Brad Keselowski.

Busch tied Mark Martin for the most Nationwide wins at Charlotte (six) and most wins on 1.5-mile speedways (15), while being in a position to go for a Charlotte sweep after winning the Truck race here last weekend.

Kasey Kahne was the driver to beat but a battery issue cost him two laps.

Joey Logano ran third and was followed by Justin Allgaier, Ryan Newman, Kevin Harvick, Jason Leffler, Reed Sorenson, pole-sitter Carl Edwards and Clint Bowyer.

"We did battle some adversity today, but it shows what a good crew behind you can do. We had an awesome race car today. We worked on it and got the Verizon Wireless Dodge better toward the end,'' said Allgaier.

"We made the choice to take four tires and I think it would have been the right choice had we not had so many cautions at the end. A top-five finish is a great day for us with the clutch problem and the adversity we had."
