Edwards Strolls To Nationwide Win At Road America
Elkhart, WI, United States (AHN) - Carl Edwards had the fastest car in Thursday's test session and he had the fastest car at the end of Saturday's NASCAR Nationwide race as he won the Bucyrus 200 presented by Menards at Road America.
Edwards, wheeling the No. 60 Ford of Roush Fenway Racing, led 35 of 50 laps as he won in NASCAR's return to one of the country's most-storied road-courses.
"To race with Jacques Villeneuve all day, to hold off Ron Fellows at the end, it's just cool," said Edwards.Road-course
specialist Ron Fellows ran second and was followed by Brendan Gaughan, Brad Keselowski and Owen Kelly.
"Carl (Edwards) is one heck of a road course racer. There was no way that we were going to be able to keep him out of victory lane all year,'' said Keselowski. "I'm proud of my Discount Tire Dodge Charger team for Penske Racing. We put in a solid effort on a type of race track that I'm not all that great at. I'm very proud of them."
Brad Coleman, J.R. Fitzpatrick, Jason Leffler, Steve Wallace and Trevor Bayne rounded out the top-10 finishers, while former Formula One driver Jacques Villeneuve fell from 10th to 25th on the last lap.
