Busch Wins New England 200, Becomes Nationwide's All-Time Laps Leader
Loudon, NH, United States (AHN) - Brad Keselowski made things interesting, but in the end it was a career day for Kyle Busch as he won the New England 200 Saturday and made a little history in the process.
Busch became the first repeat Nationwide race winner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway and he also became the series' all-time laps leader, surpassing Mark Martin by 35 laps.
"It was a good car. These guys did a great job for me,'' said Busch. "It's fun to race out here with these guys. I knew Joey (Logano) was really good. What a great race and it's a lot of fun in these cars. It's a testament to this team.''
The Las Vegas native has led 8,117 laps and is second on the all-time wins list after scoring his sixth Nationwide win of the season.
Keselowski, wheeling the No. 22 Dodge of Penske Racing, closed on Busch in the closing laps and was the fastest car on the track, but Busch, who led 192 of 200 laps, had enough of a lead to hold on for the win.
"It just takes a whole race and we off just that little bit,'' said Keselowski. "We had an awesome short run car. The race came down to a short run and we just weren't close enough to him.''
Keselowski held on for runner-up honors and was followed by former series champion Carl Edwards, Logano and Trevor Bayne.
Justin Allgaier, Kevin Harvick, Reed Sorenson, Paul Menard and Brendan Gaughan rounded out the top-10 finishers, while IZOD IndyCar driver Danica Patrick returned to the series to finish 30th.
"It was definitely a long day. It's always tough when you start from a lap down like that,'' said Patrick. "It was a learning process and we were very tight to start with. There's a lot for me to learn, how to overcome when the car does push. It's tough but it's frustrating."
