Spike in Web Traffic to IZOD IndyCar Series Website
According to Alexa, an information company providing website analytics, the IZOD IndyCar Series website (www.indycar.com) is enjoying an explosive increase in website traffic to its site.
In the past three months, the percent of global Internet users who have visited indycar.com has spiked upwards 255%.
In the past month, website traffic to the site has increased 70%, with a 46% boost coming in the week prior to this year’s Indianapolis 500.
Fans now have even more incentive to visit the website and to participate in the IZOD IndyCar Series.
On May 25, fans were asked to vote for oval and road course legends selected by the media who will be honored with namesake trophies to be awarded to the IndyCar Series oval and road champions at the end of the season.
On June 1, in collaboration with Peak Performance Motor Oil, the Series added a Fantasy Racing League to the IndyCar Nation portion of its website. The free fantasy league allows fans to engage with races weekly by selecting drivers, accumulating points based on each driver’s real-life performance and winning prizes.
The increase in website traffic confirms the sentiments of several drivers, including Dario Franchitti and Danica Patrick, who say they are noticing an increased interest in the IndyCar Series and enthusiasm for the sport.
