Scheckter to Race at Chicagoland
Tomas Scheckter has been added to the entrant list for Saturday night’s PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway. Scheckter will be driving the No. 36 car for Conquest Racing and joins teammate and rookie Bertrand Baguette.
Of his last minute entry, Scheckter tweeted this morning, “Looking forward to Chicago this weekend; happy that Conquest has taken me; going to be tough as we put this [together] so late. But I enjoy the pressure.”
Baguette is looking forward to the experience Scheckter brings to the table: “It will be great to have a driver with a lot of experience on ovals this weekend. It hasn’t always been easy this season because we were two rookies but having Tomas will be a great help. I look forward to learning from him.”
Mario Romancini and Francesco Dracone, both rookies, were previously behind the wheel of the second Conquest Racing car.
Chicagoland will be Scheckter’s fifth start of the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule. All four of his prior starts have been with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing.
Scheckter has seven starts at Chicagoland Speedway with a best finish of fourth place. In 2009, he clocked the fastest lap at Chicagoland.
The PEAK Antifreeze & Motor Oil Indy 300 at Chicagoland Speedway gets underway on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 7 p.m. (EST). It airs live on VERSUS. Last year’s polesitter and winner is Team Penske’s Ryan Briscoe.
