Penske: Plenty of Power for Another Pole

The grid is set for the 36th running of the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach, race number four on the 2010 IZOD IndyCar Series schedule, with Penske’s Will Power winning his third consecutive pole. Power, who turned the day's fastest lap at 1:09.3185, will share the first row with Andretti Autosport’s, Ryan Hunter-Reay, who posted the fastest lap at Friday's practice session.

New fathers Justin Wilson and Helio Castroneves will be starting on the second row with Ryan Briscoe and Tony Kanaan right behind them. Alex Tagliani, who made contact with a tire barrier during practice beat out Scott Dixon for seventh position, despite an injured and sore left wrist and thumb. Marco Andretti, who lead the most laps (58) at last weekend’s inaugural Indy Grand Prix of Alabama, and Dan Wheldon round out the top ten.

Team Penske, in addition to winning three poles, has been the only team to go to Victory Lane this season--most recently when Helio Castroneves captured the checkered flag from Marco Andretti on a fuel mileage strategy at Barber Motorsports Park. With three cars each in the top ten, the race promises to be a showdown between Team Penske and Andretti Autosport.

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach is set to run on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 12:30 (EST) and will be broadcast live on VERSUS. Twenty-five cars are entered to race 85 laps on the 1.968-mile, 11-turn temporary street circuit.
