IZOD IndyCar Series Announces 2011 Schedule at the Milwaukee Mile
WEST ALLIS, Wisconsin - This morning, the IZOD IndyCar Series announced its 2011 schedule-- minus the venue for the season finale--which will be announced in a few weeks.
Out in 2011 are International Speedway Corp.-owned tracks: Kansas Speedway, Watkins Glen International, Chicagoland Speedway, and Homestead-Miami Speedway.
In addition to three new races (The Milwaukee Mile, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, and the Streets of Baltimore), the format for competition at Texas Motor Speedway has been revised from one race to dual races.
The 2011 schedule is as follows:
Streets of St. Petersburg (March 27), Barber Motorsports Park (April 10), Streets of Long Beach (April 17), Streets of Sao Paulo (May 1), Indianapolis Motor Speedway (May 29), Texas Motor Speedway (June 11), The Milwaukee Mile (June 19), Iowa Speedway (June 25), Streets of Toronto (July 10), Edmonton City Centre Airport (July 24), Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course (August 7), New Hampshire Motor Speedway (August 14), Infineon Raceway (August 28), Streets of Baltimore (September 4), Twin Ring Motegi (September 18), Kentucky Speedway (October 2), Season Finale (October 16).
Las Vegas Motor Speedway, which is owned by Speedway Motorsports Inc., is rumored to be in the lead for hosting the 2011 finale.
Of the 2011 schedule, IZOD IndyCar CEO Randy Bernard said, "It was important hat the IZOD IndyCar Series continue to strike balance between ovals and non-ovals to maintain our claim to the most diverse racing schedule in the world. We want to have the best drivers in the world, and it's important that our schedule truly challenges the best through short ovals, speedways, temporary circuits and road courses."

and another year goes by with no race in michigan, its been 2 or 3 years. let me guess, there never coming back.
